Why adult faith formation?

The more we deepen our understanding of a person, the better we come to know them. The more profoundly we know them, the deeper our commitment to them and our love for them begins to grow. It’s also true that when we love someone, we will naturally want to share the happiness this brings with others.

We are all familiar with this pattern in our meaningful human relationships. In a certain sense this pattern also applies to our relationship with Jesus, the Son of God, who is sent by the Father and pours out His Spirit of Love upon us. God loves us and He gifts us with the means to grow in love and friendship with Him. Formation can help this sacred relationship to mature by:

• Deepening our knowledge of Jesus Christ, the Son of God
• Drawing us into a deeper relationship with Him through the life of His Catholic Church
• Loving Him and being able to communicate the reason for our hope to others.
